Performing arts

This is an intense performance based programme with the majority of time concentrated on dance, drama and singing, building and improving technique and performance skills.

Candidates must successfully pass the course audition. This is a carefully conceived assessment and is conducted by senior teachers of Dancepoint to assess potential and current education. Through individual interview, personal qualities such as motivation, communication and discipline are assessed and career aspirations are discussed. Auditions take place regularly throughtout the year.

MUSICAL THEATRE - all years; repertoire,performance skills and
vocabulary.

LYRICAL JAZZ - all years; strength and balance technique,breathing/
limbering tecnique and improvisation skills.

JAZZ PAS DE DEUX - all years; combined classes developing partner work.

ISOLATION TECHNIQUE - all years; sole movements, muscle control and
performance.

MODERN (I.S.T.D.) - all years; year 1 & year 2 - technique & examinations,
year3 - technique & associate qualifications.

GYMNASTICS - all years; year 1- floor work & strengthening, year 2 - acrobatics/tumbling, year 3 - balance, floor combinations & team work.

BODY CONDITONING - all years; developing strenth, physique & body awareness.

SINGING - technique (harmony and solo) - year 1 - solo & harmony technique, year 2 - solo, harmony, audition technique & repertoir, year3 - microphone technique, audition technique & repertoire.

ACTING - year 1- voice & performance technique, improvisation, year 2 - as year 1 plus repertoire, year 3 - adaptation to individual repertoire.

MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE - combination of acting, singing &
dance skills to produce an all round performance.

HISTORY OF MUSICAL THEARTRE - to appreciate & understand the
previous and present background of the musical theatre industry.

dance industry.

ANATOMY - the physiology, health & safty and importance of the performers body.

NUTRITION - the knowledge and understanding of the optimum nutritional values required.

HEALTH & SAFETY - teaching technique and injury awareness

CHOREOGRAPHY - year 1 history of choeography, struture and content. year 2 - individual creativity and performance & improvisation awareness. year 3- adaptation & team work.

TEACHING TECHNIQUE - learning and building skills, repertoire & examinations to associcate level in ballet, tap & modern.

AUDITIONS TECHNIQUE - building indviduality, confidence & professionalism.

REPERTOIRE - reguarly gaining knowledge & understanding performances.
